Southwold Gala Rules

All swimmers are responsible for checking the information regarding events, which will be displayed prominently on the notice boards. The Club notice boards are located on glazed area of the upper floor spectator gallery at Yate Leisure Centre. Information regarding galas may also be posted on the Club Website.

It is important to note the time of each session, the warm up and the location of the event, and for league matches, what time the coach leaves.

All swimmers are generally responsible for their own transportation to and from events, except for some league matches. They should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled warm up time. Cards (If any) for the events should be posted upon arrival at the pool, prior to changing.

Once changed the swimmers must report to the COACH and TEAM MANAGER on the poolside before warming up.

All swimmers MUST wear Southwold club clothing on poolside, if they fail to do so they may be excluded from the events they are swimming on that particular day.

All swimmers receiving medals and awards must wear Southwold club clothing

Swimmers should remain in the team area whilst waiting to be called for events.

Swimmers must ask the TEAM MANAGER for permission before they leave the team area for any reason.

The warm up should be based on strokes and distances that they will swim in that session. It is important during a warm up to practice starts and turns, as the facilities at each pool are slightly different. Sprints will normally be available (if necessary) in a designated sprint lane towards the end of the warm up period.

Items, which should be taken to events, include:

2 Costumes/Trunks (1 for the warm-up and 1 for the swim).

2 Towels.

2 Southwold swim hats (if worn)

Tracksuit, T- shirt and pair of trainers/pool sandals.

Two pairs of goggles, ready adjusted

Drinks & race food
