The 2 minibuses got away safely at 6am and an unventful jouney saw us arrive at Manchester at 10am. All was prepared for our arrival and we got to see the great facilities for the first time. Upstairs a 50m pool and large diving facility and downstairs our 4 lane 50m training pool all to ourselves. We got into the water at 11am for a fairly easy aerobic session with a few sprints to recover from the weekends events. After the pool session we went upstairs again for a bit of land training which was mainly stretching.
Unfortunately Caroline Dargan cannot make it this week for family emergency reasons. So we were a bit stuck for a guest swimmer/presenter. However, training in the same pool after us were British swimmers Michael Rock and Cassie Patten. Cassie has agreed to come and do a pool session on Thursday morning for us and a talk on Friday, what a star. It means we have to juggle around a bit and replan but an opportunity not to be missed.
The trip to the Youth Hostel was a bit eventful after John's satnav took us up a one way street bringing Manchester city centre to a stand still while we both turned round! However, we all got safely booked into the Youth Hostel and although it is not 5 star it is can and comfortable and the food was very good. We are all on the same floor and corridor so we are pretty self contained.
Caroline and myself took a trip out to the Total Fitness facility where we are training tomorrow. They were great and it is a huge fitness centre with very large studios and an 8 lane 25m pool. Looking forward to training there.
Off to breakfast now and more to come.......................................
Great breakfast, cereals, juice, fruit, full fryup just ready for a hard set in the pool.
Keith
