2010/2011 Season : Training Sessions and Structure

Posted July 15, 2010

The Management Committee have now signed off the Budget for next season.

The Masters, Swim Development and Learn To Swim sessions will continue as they have this season.

The current training groups :

Seniors/A/B/C/D   (based on 3 lanes per  group)       will be replaced by

Reds / Greens           (based on 6 lanes per group)

This change will give the coaches greater flexibility to manage training sessions and ensure swimmers get the right amount of training at different points in the season. It will also help the Club to maximise our pool usage.

Each Training Group will have a core of sessions which all swimmers will be expected to attend. There will also be additional sessions to which swimmers will be invited. This will be a decision for Keith (as Head Coach) with input from his coaching team. During the season the sessions swimmers are invited to will change as we will need to allow for  swimmers progressing at different rates - we also need to ensure sessions do not become overloaded.

As with previous seasons the Club will cancel sessions if we have a substantial number of swimmers taking part in other competitions e.g. the Gloucester County Championships. Swimmers and parents need to refer to the website regularly, or better still register for the text updating service.

The monthly training fees for the Reds and Greens  will depend on the amount of pooltime made available to swimmers.  For most swimmers this represent a modest increase in monthly training fees (typically £3 extra per month).

We are also increasing the Annual Membership fees from £40 to £50 for (ASA Category 2) and from £10 to £15 (ASA Category 1).  This is as a result of increases in the corresponding fees the Club has to pay to the ASA.

All Land Training will now take place on Sundays at Yate Leisure Centre.

The full details of the training plan are shown in the attached document , a summary of the new fee levels is shown here and some more information on the two training groups is here.

Swimmers  will be informed of which Training Group they have been allocated to when we issue membership renewal notices in the next couple of weeks. This will also show the level of training fees they are expected to pay.

At the end of December, we will review the progress of swimmers and reassess which level of fees is appropriate for the level of training they are being offered. The revised fee level will then become payable from January 2011.

We will repeat this process again in March/April 2011.

NB Most swimmers will not see their level of fees change following these reviews.

If anyone has any questions on the any of the above please feel free to contact me.
