POSITION OF ASSISTANT COACH : OVERVIEW

Qualifications       Minimum of ASA Level 2 Coach (with a requirement to be progress to Level 3  within 2 years).

Salary                       circa £5k p.a. (depending on experience)                                                                                                                     

Type of Contract   initially 12 months fixed term, annually renewable thereafter  

BACK GROUND

Southwold Swimming Club is an expanding club that now wishes to appoint an additional coach. The post will mostly involve squad training sessions which currently take place as two morning sessions and six evening sessions per week at Yate Leisure Centre & Bath University.  The Club currently has two paid coaches (Head Coach and a Swim Development Coach). We also have a number of volunteer coaches (six Level 2 Coaches and seven Level 1 assistants). The Club competes in a number of competitions including the National Arena Swimming League and the Southern Junior League as well as numerous Open Galas. The appointee will be expected to work with our coaching team to ensure that all these sessions are effectively covered.  The Club is Swim 21 accredited. An enhanced CRB Disclosure is required, the Club will organise one if necessary.

ASSISTANT COACH JOB DESCRIPTION

-  Take the role of responsible person for all sessions where the Head Coach is not present 

-  Conduct training sessions as agreed with the Head Coach (approx 8 contact hours per week, over 6 days), including a morning session and Bath sessions

-  Plan the individual training sessions for groups allocated adhering to the overall programme published by the Head Coach (supervised)

-  Attend Galas and open meets as agreed with the Head Coach

-  Input gala results into the performance database

-  Arrange, attend and take minutes of swim teachers & coaches meetings

-  Select, coach and manage the team for “B” Grade team galas

-  Attend County/Regional/National Championships as required by the Head Coach

-  Ensure necessary training and CPD activities undertaken to maintain licence

-  Agree and maintain a personal development plan with the Head Coach, as dictated by Swim 21

-  Support the Swim21 co-ordinator to achieve necessary accreditation
