Southern Junior League Round 2 - 17th May

The results for round 1 have now  been finalised and Southwold is in 7th position — a terrific achievement!

Round 2 will be at Littledown Leisure Centre (Bournemouth) so we have organised a coach for this gala.

The Westward coach will leave from Yate Leisure Centre Car Park at 2:00pm.

Please tick off your names off the team list and also tick off your names from the coach list on the notice

Cotswold Series Finals Gala- Saturday 10th May

The final proved to be an extremely tough (and noisy!) final and clearly all the clubs turned out their strongest teams. Despite some excellent performances, the opposition proved to be too good for us on the night and we ended up in 8th position.  The last three teams were very close.

The “A” Final teams final points were:

1. Bridgwater                 266 points

2. Bristol Henleaze      259 points

3. Cinderford                  236 points

4 =        Clevedon                    230 points

4 =        Wells and Shepton Mallet

6.          Cheltenham              217 points

7. Cirencester                214 points

8.          Southwold                  211 points

“Well Done” to everyone who swam in this competition - not just those who were chosen for the final. There were many more swimmers who took part in the earlier rounds than could be chosen to swim in the final but without their effort the club would not have improved to the extent that we moved up from the “C” final to the “A” final. This is an excellent 7 places improvement on last year and shows how much the whole club has improved!

We should look forward to the competition next year with confidence and expect to do even better!

SWR Youth Championships - 3rd - 5th May 2008

We had 3 swimmers at this year's SWR Youth Championships. Kirsty Jenkins (17) in the 100 Back, Ashley Case (16) in the 100 Back, 100 Breast, 50 Breast and 50 Free and Steven Van der Park (16) in the 50 Free, 50 Back, 100 Free and 100 Back. All swam exceptionally well against the might of the SW top swimmers.

Ashley and Steven both qualified for finals with the highlight of Ashley winning the Silver medal in the 50 Breast. Ashley also came 5th in the 100 Breast with Steven ending up 4th in the 50 Back and 5th in the 50 Free.
