To join the Club you must then complete the following forms. You can download copies of these forms here: 2. Medical form
The completed forms must then be returned to our Hon. Membership Secretary who will process and retain the forms. The information on the forms will only be used on a “need to know” basis.
Dependent upon your ability and experience your membership will then be processed and you may then be asked to join one of the available squads:
Please note that whilst we will accept your new membership of the club, you may only actually be able to train if there is a space in the squad that the chief coach believes that the new member should placed in, and the new member is prepared to attend as many training sessions as possible in that squad.
SESSIONS AVAILABLE ARE: Learn to Swim - This session is aimed at non-swimmers between 4 years old and 8 years old and takes place in the teaching pool on Mondays and Thursdays. When able to swim 50m or more, the children progress to the Swim Development group, swimming lengths in the main pool. Sessions are arranged over 12 - 14 week terms. Fees are paid a term at a time Swim Development - This session takes place on Sundays and is aimed at children who can swim between 50 metres and 800 metres and who are confident in the main pool This session takes place in the 25M pool over lengths of the main pool. Swim Development members are not generally expected to compete in competitive open meets but should enter the Club Championships and Founders Galas if they meet the age and swimming distance criteria. Sessions are arranged over 12-14 week terms. Fees are paid a term at a time. Swim Development swimmers must purchase a set of TRAINING FINS (NOT flippers) so that they can start to learn correct stroke technique and the drills required to develop their stamina and technique. They can be purchased via the Swim Shop. Please click HERE for a link. COMPETITIVE SQUADS AVAILABLE ARE: D1 - This squad is aimed at children aged 8-10 years old who can swim over 800 metres. This is the first squad where young swimmers are exposed to competition training. D1 squad members, along with all the squads below, are expected to compete in open galas. Fees have been set at £33.00 per month. C1- This squad is aimed at children 8 - 11 years old who can swim all the strokes in accordance with ASA law and have completed the ASA competitive Start Award. These swimmers have generally progressed though the D1 Squad. Training fees have been set at £38.00 per month. C2 - This squad is aimed at young swimmers aged 8 - 11 years old who have not progressed sufficiently yet to join the C1 Squad. This squad only has 2 sessions per week and training will be aimed at less competitive activities such as completing the ASA Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards and possibly lifesaving. Training fees have been set at £23.00 per month. B1 - This squad is aimed at children 9 - 14 years old who are of a good competitive standard. In general swimmers in this squad will be at a standard to compete in county championships and some at age group regional championships. There is an expectation that these swimmers will enter a range of open meets and championships throughout the year. There is an aspiration that this group may be provided with land conditioning and 50m pool training which could attract extra cost. Training fees have been set at £41.00 per month. B2- This squad is aimed at young swimmers aged 9 - 14 years old are of a club competition standard but may not yet be at a county standard. This is still a competition squad and swimmers are expected to enter open meets primarily at a Level 3 standard. Training fees have been set at £35.00 per month. A1 - This squad is our highest competitive squad and is aimed at swimmers who are 12+ years old who would generally be at a regional standard, some may reach a national level. This group has the most pool time allocated in order to maintain fitness at a level to compete successfully. As with B1, there is an aspiration that the training for this group may be expanded to provide with land conditioning and 50m pool training which could attract extra cost. Training fees have been set at £45.00 per month. A2 - This squad is also a highly competitive squad aimed at swimmers aged 12+ years. These swimmers however will generally be just below a regional level standard. Although these swimmers should still compete in open meets there is less focus on maintaining attendance levels. Training fees have been set at £39.00 per month.
Additionally, a small number of swimmers aged 18 years old and above may be invited to join the A1 squad. They are by invitation only and comprise two distinct groups. The first group comprises competitive swimmers who are unable to attend all the A1 sessions, but, in the opinion of the chief coach, can successfully keep up with the A1 training sessions on a reduced attendance programme. The second group comprises swimmers attending a University/College based away from home but who are prepared to train whilst away from home and wish to continue to train whilst at home . Both these groups are generally swimmers who have been club members for a good number of years and had previously been in the top training group. These sessions will take place with the A1 squads in the 25m pool. Training fees have been set at £45.00 per month (pro rata on attendance). Masters - This session is a competitive squad aimed at master swimmers 25 years old and above. This single session takes place in the 25m pool. Training fees have been set at 14.50 per month plus the membership fee . The Masters' membership fee is dependent upon whether or not the member takes part in competitive events (see below). _______________________________________________________________________________ Please note that ALL club members MUST have individual membership of the ASA with additional registration fees payable to both ASA South West Region and Gloucestershire. ASA From September 2007 we will charge a separate £25.00 registration fee that covers these fees. Non-Competitive Masters’ Members along with swimmers attending “Learn to Swim” or “Swim Development” will be charged £4:00 to cover these fees. Any Learn to Swim or Swim Development swimmers who wish to compete in open events will be expected to pay the extra fee for ASA Category 2 membership. The registration fee will become due on the first day of the new season.. You will be able to pay the Club Membership Secretary (or one of the Committee on duty during the first week) in the Coffee Lounge at Yate Leisure Centre from 2nd September. We regret that non payment of the membership fee by the end of September may result in the swimmer being suspended from sessions. The club fully understands that some families may have difficulty in paying these revised fees. If this is the case then please contact the Membership Secretary who will then raise your situation with the Committee. The Committee will then confidentially discuss your situation and propose to you an appropriate solution. Please note that the Committee’s decision is final. _______________________________________________________________________________ From 2nd September 2007 training fees are payable for 12 months per year. This puts us in line with other local clubs. Thus the annual charge for “D1” squad members for example is £33.00 * 12 = £396.00 Club members that move between squads will be charged the altered rates on a pro-rata basis. Thus a swimmer that moves from “D1” to “C1” after 6 months would pay: 6 months @ “D1” rate £33.00 * 6 = £198.00 Plus the higher rate for the C1 squad (£38.00) for the period that they are in that group 6 months @ “C1” rate £38.00 * 6 = £228.00 Equally if the swimmer moves into the C2 group after 6 months then the overall bill will be reduced for the 6 months that the swimmer is in the C2 group 6 months @ “C2” rate £23.00 * 6 = £138.00 |
