Welcome to Southwold Swimming Club. The club was formed in 1973 and gets its name from South (Gloucestershire) & (Cots) wold. We operate out of Yate Leisure Centre in South Gloucestershire. Although a local club we have been very successful during the last few years. We are affiliated to both ASA South West Region and Gloucester County ASA. We hold Club Championships in late November of each year and participate in numerous galas. In 2004 we entered the National Speedo League competition and gained promotion into Division Two of the Western League at the first attempt. In 2006 we achieved 11th place out of 18 teams in Division 2, another excellent performance in only our third year in the Competition. 2005 also saw Southwold win the Cotswold Series final in Weston Super Mare for the first time, another notable achievement for the club. We are always pleased to hear from any capable swimmers in the area of all ages, especially those who enjoy competitive action! As we have only two part-time paid staff, we are keen to welcome new parents who are prepared to help with the running of the club. We have many varied jobs: from those that require no training (such as providing poolside drinks); to those where you can be initially trained in about 10 minutes (such as timekeeping); to becoming a fully qualified coach, which takes many months, if not years to complete and requires you attend a number of training courses (the club will provide financial assistance to anyone wishing to attend ASA approved training courses). As a minimum you and your children are expected to regularly check the Southwold notice board on the top corridor of the Leisure Centre and also this and the associated Hy-Tek website (click on “Hy-Tek” to connect to this website) to keep up to date with what is happening at the club.
