| VISION |
|
To be an enduring club with a highly valued team spirit competing at the highest levels after achieving sustained improvements in the performance of our local swimmers through excellent coaching, sound management and improved facilities. |
Southwold Swimming Club was founded in 1973 and currently has around 180 members. We operate out of Yate Leisure Centre, 10 miles north of Bristol, and cater for all ages and abilities, from non-swimmers who wish to learn to swim through to Masters who have been in the water for many, many years.
We are Swim21 accredited at "Teaching", "Skill Development" and "Integrated Masters" Levels. Swim21 is the quality standard for UK swimming clubs. The club has reached an important stage in its development, having enjoyed considerable success in the last few years.
Through improvements in coaching and sourcing more pool time, our competition performances have continued to improve. We entered into the Western Area of The National Swimming League in 2004 where we immediately won promotion into Division Two at the first attempt. We continued to improve year by year until in 2008, we gained promotion to Division One. In 2009, our first year in Division 1, we made the "A" Final and placed 4th overall, a great achievement. The performances of our younger swimmers have also improved dramatically and in 2009 we were "A" finalists in the Southern Junior League, eventually placing 5th, the highest placed Gloucestershire/Bristol Club. In 2009 we also qualified for the "A" Final of the Cotswold Series.
As we are a competitive club, we are always looking for new members who have the commitment to train hard, improve and then take part in competitions.
